Iraq has an estimated population of 32.58 million (2012) (World Bank, 2014) with 50% under the age of 19. The main cities are Bagdad, Basrah Mosul, Kirkuk and Erbil. Iraq has a rich mosaic of religions and ethnicities although over the past few decades, some minorities have shrunk in numbers due to migration. The ethnic diversity in the country is as follows: Arab 75%-80%, Kurds 15%-20%, Turkoman, Assyrian and others 5%.
Iraq's official languages are Arabic and Kurdish although English is widely spoken in business.
